Eastman Chemicals, Workington, Cumbria

INSTALLATION OF 4NO. (160 CELLS) SPINNING MACHINES, 2NO. DRYERS AND 8NO. BAILERS AT EASTMAN CHEMICALS. |
Main Mechanical Contractor to Principal Contractor 2007-2009 |
Project Description: This mechanical project consisted of the installation of two spinning machines, consisting of 160no. spinning positions, including 160no. metering pumps, finish rolls and drive roll assemblies. The installation and commissioning of 2no. crimper and dryer assemblies, the installation of 8no. tow feeder assemblies and the installation and commissioning of 8no. bailer assemblies at Eastman Chemical in Cumbria.
The average work force on site during the project was 16 at one stage reaching 28 men. Over the duration of the Eastman expansion M.I.M. personnel completed over 42,000 man hours without a recordable injury.

Project Description:
-Weld extensions to the temporary support piles.
- Assemble the bridge sections at the Londonderry port before being floated up the Foyle into location.
- Assist with rigging bridge sections into position.
- Custom fit zinc plates to suspension rope clamps.
- Assist with the installation and tensioning suspension ropes.
- Weld handrail sections into position.

DESIGN, FABRICATION AND INSTALLATION OF AHU/CHILLER SUPPORT STEEL WORK AND INSTALLATION OF ALL EQUIPMENT AT KERRY FOODS. |

Project Description:
Our task was to design support steel work for and air handling unit and chillers.
We had to fabricate the support steel work, all associated access stairs, customised flow-forge grating and handrails. Finally we had to install all the steelwork and equipment.
Notes: The installation work was carried out in a fully operational site, very confined and a lot of the work completed at height.
